Some gifts are big. Others are small. But the gifts from the heart are the best gifts of all! This mom, also a dear friend of mine, wanted to do something special for her son, Jay, for his 19th birthday! Jay is a former motocross racer, and now a current MotoAmerica Pro Road Racer as well as an AMA Pro Flat Tracker. I made this drawing using colored pencils, charcoal, pastels, pens, and permanent markers. I never seem to want to stick to just one medium when it comes to anything colorful! Good luck this weekend at Daytona! To support Jay Newton Racing you can like Jay's Facebook page, or visit www.jaynewtonracing.com!
Fresh off the drawing table...
My most recent project, intended to be given as a gift! My friend, Russell, had seen a couple of the colored pencil drawings that I had done for a handful of superbike racers and asked me if might be interested in creating a gift for his friends who own a cafe bike. He sent me a couple of pictures of his friend's bike, and we both agreed that this front view was the most visually interesting and would make for the coolest angle of the drawing! The more that I play with charcoal the faster it climbs to the top of my "favorite medium" list!! For now, I think it holds the #1 spot! The only thing missing on the drawing as it stands right now is a caption- which I am waiting for Russell to send me- and one or two more coats of final fixative before the only thing left to find is the perfect frame! Below are a few images from different stages of the project!
